As an addicted traveler, you must love sports, must you not? Maybe not all the olympic sports, but some of them surely. You also like to play, that is a special spirit, and you like to fight and win.

The Olympic Games have a long history, and are a call to peace and frienship. Do not try or allow to interfere with politics, it is sad.

Tomorow the Olympic Games will start. Maybe you will be there in Beijing ( Pekin) and will watch the breathtaking opening show. The Olympic Games will last 2 weeks, maybe you will stay all this time in Beijing, having also some breaks ( even the sportmen will have ). Thus you will get the oportunity to visit other interesting places in China. I selected something for you, and I would recommend them between sport competitions for the better understanding of the chinese civilisation and culture:

The lethal K2

11 climbers, adventurers, alienists or whatsoever found the dead on the Himalayan K2 peak since a short time.

K2 is world’s second highest peak, but it is said to be the most dangerous. Let the facts speak: during this year 2600 people reached the Everest peak, and only 305 completed the ascension of K2!

K2 is really a world wonder. Looks great, mysterious and sometimes claims its rights and victims. Seems that the Gods of the peak are sometimes very upset.

The 11 deads from the K2 are victims of lack of experience and melting glacier. Let them rest in peace. I think they died very happy.

In 1986 other 13 people died on K2 due to a strong storm.

K2 is also named Ketu or Qogir, and lies on the border between Pakistani and China, in the Karakoram segment of the himalayan range.

The amazing Jeita Grotto

Please, do not read this article if you hate dark places, as are the caves.

Anyway, in my opinion, you should visit this grotto (Jeita Grotto), it is really a masterpiece.

If you will reply ” what can be so spectacular in a cave?”, I must answer: I can hardly find my words for describing such a beauty! It is simply overwhelming and breathtaking, an unique cave, I would say.

It is a nature wonder, and lies only 20 km north from Beirut, Lebanon. It was rediscovered by the American missionary William Thompson in 1836. But in the good old paleolithic times this was populated by humans! In the 60’s took place here in the grotto a few concerts, but in the 70’s it has been closed to public access due to the Lebanese civil war. Nowadays it is opened again, and you can enjoy an unforgettable escapade in this cave!
