You really should hurry up to see the city of Phnom Penh in the today state, as it is still genuine and out of the mass tourism.

The city of Phnom Penh was grounded in the XIIIth century, when enemies conquered the Cambodian capital of Angkor Wat. The local ruling family took then a stupa, which is a ritual statue, from Angkor and settled the new capital at Phnom Wat (Phnom was a local wealthy widow very useful and important in this operation). You can still visit today the Phnom Wat and the originally stupa. It is nothing very spectacular, but the surrounding park is magnificent. Almost 100 years long, up to 1953, Cambodia was ruled by the French colonial empire. They brought a major contribution to the development of Phnom Penh, who became the Pearl of Asia. The city was almost totally rebuild, and in many places there still are traces of the French colonial style in architecture and way of life

The biggest advantage of Phu Quoc Island is to be still out of the paths of mass tourism. You can still visit this interesting island before the expected tourism boom, as many leading hotels chains are waiting to start up big infrastructure on the Phu Quoc Island.

Phu Quoc Island is under Vietnam jurisdiction, but was an important motive of arguments between Vietnam, Cambodia and even Thailand. Phu Quoc Island even caused a Vietnam-Cambodia war in the 70’s. Therefore on the island are more units and squads of the Vietnamese army. Adding to that the fact that 80 % of the island are protected due to its forest as a national park results in a totally unfriendly island. Which is  terrible wrong!

Sydney is one of Australia’s most famous cities and has some amazing and unique places to visit, including the iconic Sydney Opera House with its soaring white segments, the spectacular Harbor Bridge and also the beautiful golden sands of Bondi Beach, which is one of the most admired beaches in the world. Although Canberra is Australia’s capital city, Sydney is so recognizable that many people do mistake it for the capital, and it certainly is Australia’s most energetic, modern and wealthy city. Sydney’s transport systems are first class, and so are its parks, botanical gardens, shopping and dining facilities. Sydney has a lot to offer visitors, as it is the oldest city in Australia and has many historic buildings and places of interest. Just outside of the city are the famous Hunter Valley vineyards, the Blue Mountains and also the Snowy Mountains, which are a popular winter sports destination and has many excellent ski slopes and resorts.

I kinda assumed that if an internet café’s situated in the heart of London, then it’s bound to be better than your average café, right? You know, spacious, airy, nice’ish toilets, devoid of viruses with severe chips on their shoulders, etc. (‘chips’, geddit?!)

Anyway, I’m one of those people who tend to be quite calm in certain situations that your Average Joe/Joan might freak out about. I guess it’s a coping mechanism of some sort. With this particular internet cafe, it didn’t quite sink in just how weird the whole experience was ‘til I’d stepped out of it.

I’ll start from the beginning, shall I, Columbo?

So, I’m in London for a few days. I’m on one of those red bendy buses on my way to Piccadilly Circus – great way to see a big part of London, by the way, as it drives you all through the city – great architecture as well if you’re into that type of thing.

Going to Bogota 20 years ago was really an adventure, as it had one of the biggest crime level in the world. Meanwhile the things came back to the normal and nowadays Bogota is a much safer place comparing to Rio de Janeiro or Caracas.

All those silly things happened because of the rival clans and gangs involved in the dirty drug business. Even today you must avoid the drug smugglers on the streets, which is a normal precaution in any foreign city you visit.

Bogota is a big mountain city lieing at 2260 meters in the Andes. It counts 8 000  000 inhabitants (Bogotanos), being the capital and the most important city of Columbia. It is very well and picturesque positioned in a plateau of the Andes ( sabana de Bogota, which means savanna of Bogota) enjoying a mild climate all over the year. Bogota is one of the world’s highest capital, behind La Paz and Quito.
