It’s old news that the more we travel by plane, the bigger our carbon footprint gets. If you’re concerned about the environment but you don’t think you can ignore your wanderlust, there’s really no need for you to worry. You can have the best of both worlds by choosing a “green” vacation. Ecotourism is getting to be more and more popular these days, what with people becoming more and more aware of their environment.

You might want to do your part as well. And if you think that you’re sacrificing too much by choosing to trod down the unbeaten path, think again. According to Ayako Ezaki of the International Ecotourism Society, by traveling “green”, you not only minimize travel’s negative effects but maximize its benefits as well. How: by giving something back to the people who make ecotourism possible.

The hot hot summer is coming, it can be felt already. Nothing to do again global warming(excepted travel green, bike to the job, think environmental friendly). If you ‘ll find in a good summer day the climate unbearable, then Anchorage in Alaska is the right place for you.

Anchorage, Alaska is located slightly farther to the north than Oslo, Helsinki and Saint Petersburg. It is surrounded by mountains (Chugach Mountains) and enjoys a subarctic climate.

The city is unbelievable young, its build started in 1914 as the end of Alaska railway. Buildings from the 50’s are already historic.

I was very surprised in Anchorage about the length of the day, due to its nordic latitude. Also surprising for the tourists and new residents are the short daytime in winter.

Some people live to travel the world over. If you were given the chance to pick ten destinations, these are definitely places you should consider. Below is a list of the ten most iconic destinations of the world and the best places from which to view them.

Skyline Gondola’s take on the Lake Wakatipu

This finger lake (or inland lake) in New Zealand is in itself a prime destination because of the great views around it. There’s the view of the magnificent Remarkables mountain ranges, and the vibrant city of Queenstown. However, while you’re sitting in a boat that’s gliding across it, it’s almost impossible to appreciate the wholeness of the lake itself.

That is until you take the Skyline Gondola which actually lets you have an overview of the lake. The lake is 80 kilometers long and forms a graceful S shape with the Southern Alps as a backdrop.
