Many people celebrated the fall of the Berlin Wall. Germany organized in Berlin public meetings, concerts, festivities with participation of prominents who played a role during The Fall of Berlin Wall.

Unfortunately, a few people did not take part to these festivities. First, 10 % of the Germans who still don’t agree with the Fall (Mauerfall). The other normal German people say about them to bear the Wall in their heads (Mauer in der Kopf). This is a major challenge for Angela Merkel and other leading German politicians. Second: the 200 people shooted during their unsuccessfully escapes. But no one forgets them, especially in Germany. The former Checkpoint Charlie is today a museum dedicated to these daring people.

Berlin is totally a city to fall in love with. There are many parks and lakes in Berlin, and no one will charge for walking in the parks ; lying in the sun on some beaches is not for free anymore. But besides there are some very interesting places you can acces for free, and I think you must be aware of that and get more from your Berlin travel.
1. Reichstag is still the place where the Parliament debates take place. But it is also the place where the Nazi regime ruled Germany and the conquered countries, which is a sombre page of history. From the impressive heights of the roof terrace and the renowned Dome you can get one of the best aerial view of Berlin. Acces is free, but during daytime is overcrowded and rather to avoid. At night there are no crowds anymore, and the view is breathtaking. You should enter the building before 10 p.m., and please don’t forget to take a free copy of ” Guide of aerial Berlin”.

Berlin has had a fascinating history with many crucial moments and was totally destroyed after WWII; besides the division of Berlin and the building of the Berlin Wall could cost the mankind a few times the third World War. If you never visited Berlin up to now, I tell you sincerely and honestly that you lost a few things. Berlin, as one of the Europe’s biggest cities, has a lot to tell and to show you. It is a modern vibrant city with intensive night life, and surely the most avantgardistic city across the Europe. David Bowie in person was mesmerized and seduced by the spirit of Berlin.

Berlin, as we all know, had a trembled history. After WWII it was totally destroyed and its surprisingly reconstruction seemed to be impossible to many people. Many people considered Berlin a condemned city, as they didn’t know the fantastic capacity and discipline of the Germans. Please don’t ask the people on the street about Hitler and the concentration camps, they are not responsible for them. The people are very kind and gentle, and you don’t need to make them guilty or uncomfortable.
