The beautiful city of Brisbane was founded 1824 by lord Brisbane, governor of the state of Queensland and is the easternmost city of Australia. Long time neglected despite its administrative significance it only looked shadowed by the much greater cities of Sidney and Melbourne, Brisbane has developed itself very quickly after hosting in the 80’s the Commonwealth Games and the World Expo. Ever since is the country’s fastest growing city!

I find very right for these things to happen, as Brisbane has a wonderful position, offering the best ingredients for the most exquisite cuisine: from the Great Bareer Reef many species of salt water fish; from the notorious vineyards in neighboring Granite Belt fine and exquisite wine; from the estuaries the tasty mud crabs and the sweet water fishes called barramundi. Add the beef, the tropical fruits and the fruits from the orchards (apples, pears etc) and you got an important reason to visit Brisbane: its restaurants offer excellent meals at good prices!

Brisbane is the bustling, energetic capital of Queensland, and has a beautiful sub tropical climate, a wealth of open, green public spaces and a wonderful laidback attitude to life. The city was built on the site of an old convict colony established in 1823, which later became a free settlement in 1842 and grew into a city from the riches made on the fertile, arable land and abundance of timber in the area. This city was named after the Governor of New South Wales, Sir Thomas Brisbane.

Although Brisbane was mainly thought of as a regional outpost, in more recent years it has grown in international recognition for is vibrant economy and rich tourist trade, and also the Commonwealth Games were held here in 1982, bringing a host of international interest and investment to the city.
