Stanley Park – Evergreen Oasis

Drive beyond the northwest outskirts of the City of Vancouver, and you find yourself in the beautiful near-wilderness area of Stanley Park amid a forest of towering cedar, hemlock and firtrees. The city of Vancouver set aside this 1000-acre wilderness site for recreational purposes in 1886. It officially became a park in 1888 and was named for Lord Stanley, Governor of Canada.

These 1000 acres were once the home of the Squamish and Musqueam Native Americans, and several totem poles stand in their honor.
Spend a day (or longer) in the Park and enjoy watching and photographing over one hundred species of wildlife including friendly raccoons and squirrels. Birds abound, including Canada geese, ducks, grouse and swans.
If flowers are more to your liking, several gardens await to delight your eyes and your nose. In the spring, Ted and Mary Greig Rhododendron Garden is a bed of colors. Later in the year, a formal rose garden in full bloom is a gift to the senses.

Enjoy and relax in Calgary

A few time ago, while visiting Canada and reporting about Banff, I also visited Calgary.

I loved Calgary from the first sight, and very soon I wanna go back. I would also recommend to you a visit there.

Calgary lies in the western Canada, being the largest city of the Alberta Provincion with its 1000000 inhabitants. Calgary Alberta hotels and resorts are in good shape and have excellent conditions. Calgary was the first Canadian city hosting the winter Olympic Games in 1988.

Beside winter sports and ecotourism, the petroleum industry, agriculture and hi tech are contributing to the fast growth of the city.

I wish a nice trip and a nice time in Calgary!

In 2007 Calgary was ranked as the world’s cleanest city.

Nowadays, as a modern multicultural city, Calgary still retains much of its traditional culture of hotel saloons, western bars and night clubs.

I went in Barcelona, Mexico, Tanzania. I was tired, so tired, and sick of so many people gathered together for no reason. Someone recommended me Banff in the Canadian Rockies, and it was really the perfect choice. Really, now I am much better and prepared for new trips and adventures.

If you want to discover more about Banff, and the perfect relaxation to get there, then you should read this post and visit Banff.

I am sure you have heard about Banff. It is located in the Canada Alberta provincion, 90 km away from Calgary International Airport and on the Canada Hyghway.  It is surrounded by the  Rocky Mountains.

Banff location

The town of Banff is very peacefull, with its 6000 inhabitants. It is mere a village, but a nice one! Therefore is recommended for relaxation, but also for many kind of outdoor activities, such skiing, hiking and climbing at all levels.
