Rio hotels took over Sydney hotels for being the most expensive hotels in the world today. This is according to a recent survey which reveals that the average cost of a night in a Rio hotel will cost travelers £192.88 on average. This is reflects a 50% increase compared to the hotel rates last year.
The booking website HRS conducted the survey and attributed the sharp increase to the strong economy of Brazil with improved infrastructure as the country will host the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics by 2016. The carnival this year also had a record number of attendees.
The hotel room rates in the major travel destinations generally went up with London hotels showing an increase of 4.33% pushing the price per night to £100 plus while Liverpool showed a 12.55% hike with prices hitting as high as £71.57.
The Revere hotel recently opened in Boston and offers a “revolutionary rate” of $177.50 in honor of the journey of Paul Revere on 18 April 1775.
The introductory rate will be good until the end of May 2012 but you need to call The Revere to book a room and give them the REV775 promo code. The regular room rates will be around $430 per night.
The hotel opened its doors last 17 April with rock climbers from a local rock gym going down the 24 stories on the exterior of the hotel while donning the Revere staff uniform. The uniforms of the were designed in collaboration with the students Massachussetts College of Art and Design and will be used by the valets, doormen, and the cocktail servers.

Trump Toronto
The eponymous hotel opened their seventh hotel and made a good buzz in Toronto last week. Te opening rates were almost $600 but this was trimmed down to $474 per night. This includes a king room boasting of 550 square feet, internet, local calls, breakfast, and an upgrade to a suite if you add $50. You can avail of these rates thru 29 February.
