The first quarter of 2011 will see the launch of a brand new and exclusive wellbeing sanctuary in Phuket called The Arcanum. Strategically located in a “hidden” location, this new resort will redefine the idea of secluded resorts. More than just being a paradise of sorts where no one can find you, the Arcanum also aims to focus on regenerating the body’s “natural engines”. Here, East meets West yet again.

The sanctuary promises to meld all the hospitalities of the East with the most advanced wellness methodologies of the West. Fitness and nutrition are also included in the regimen. When you sign up into their programs, your wellness schedule begins in London, even before your plane takes off. They will give your meal plans a complete makeover, and prepare you for a healthier and fitter lifestyle with exercises.

There are so many things to do in Phuket. Note only some of them: Phuket City and Patong beach. And observe carefully in Phuket two amazing phenomena: the large number of expats marrying Thai women and the large number of ladyboys (everyone calls them like this. An accurate translation is the English would be transgender. They are so many because of the permissive environment and religion in Phuket and in all Thailand. Beware the ladyboys, many of them are notorious pocket thieves!).

But Phuket is really a paradise on Earth and a major destination for millions of tourists coming from U.S., Europe, Australia and Japan. Today Phuket seems to be completely recovered after the devastating Tsunami from 2004, and the tourism is booming again. Tourism is actually the main income source for Phuket; other people on Phuket earn their existence from rubber plantations and tin.
