After much deliberation, the International Olympics Committee has finally decided on the location of the 2016 Olympic Games and to everyone’s surprise they will not be held in Chicago.

There are few places in the world as magical as Brazil. The many customs, yearly events, festivals, sights, and culturally rich atmosphere make it a fantastic getaway from for anyone looking for an unforgettable experience. But of all of the places in Brazil, one city really stands out, and brings visitors back for more again and again. That city is Rio de Janeiro, and if you have considered taking a vacation to Brazil, there is no better destination.

Besides being a tourist hot spot, and one of the most beloved cities in South America, it is also one of the most active, and has plenty to offer the average vacationer, no matter what it is you are looking for in your trip. From fine dining, great shopping, and four star hotels, to a fantastic entertainment, small local bars, and hostels on the beach, the Rio de Janeiro vacation has it all.

Rio de Janeiro means the River from January and is a totally surprising city. If you did not visit up to now Rio, you can do it by the beginning of February, when the world’s biggest party, The Carnival from Rio, will be held one week long on the streets from Rio.

It doesn’t matter where you’re from, everyone loves a good party. All you need is a lot of booze, a ton of people, and some loud music, and you have a combination that always leads to a damn good time, no matter what the occasion.
Luckily, there are plenty of crazy gatherings for all you party animals out there, some well known, others only locally heard of, but all with thousands of people just like you who are there for one reason: to have the best, most drunken time possible without causing their own deaths.

The San Diego Street Scene

What? – A two day party held on several blocked off streets, featuring a ton of live bands, and even more booze.

Slum Tourism is a relatively new phenomenon, and has been widely criticised in the media for exploiting those living on and below the poverty line, and has been deemed ‘voyeurism’ rather that tourism. Some media types are calling this form of excursion ‘poorism‘, as it involves taking tours of some of the world’s most poverty stricken communities, and is said to have begun about 15 years ago in Brazil, when the company Favela Tour began to give guided tours around Rio De Janeiro’s largest and poorest shantytown or ‘favela’.
