This has to be the cheapest airfare to the Caribbean to date. REDjet, the first low cost carrier flying to and from the Caribbean announced its projected price for a one-way flight at $9.99. Now, not only the rich and famous can go to Barbados to enjoy the sun on their cheeks and fine sand between their toes.

While operations haven’t started yet, REDjet has already employed a lot of people for their plan. They’ve also gotten their hands on MD-80s which used to be operated by the American Airlines. However, at this price, expect the least in terms of freebies. You may have to bring your own snack while you’re in the charter flight. Operations are slated to begin this December.

For those of you who want to get away from winter, the timing couldn’t have been better. The airline also announced its initial destinations, and they are: Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and Guyana. A lot of other Caribbean prime spots will be added to this list so keep your eyes peeled for
