Genji Japanese restaurant, Authentic Japanese food in Thailand

By

Although there are dozens of Japanese restaurants in Bangkok, there are very few that pay so close attention to personal service, authentic cuisine and perfection as Genji. Genji Japanese restaurant, located in the Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel is the place to go in Bangkok for Japanese food…hands down.

There are no Japanese restaurants that can compare to Genji in terms of quality and service. Most Japanese places in Thailand practically force feed Japanese culture down your throat with chopsticks. Genji however is an unpretentious place and yet elegant at the same time, presenting an atmosphere that you simply cant find anywhere else in all of Thailand. The main dining hall delivers a more decorative atmosphere than most Japanese eateries. It has sushi bar seating and several teppanyaki grill tables. Additionally, there are several private rooms with traditional knee-high tatami seating dining and sitting areas for a more authentic experience.

Eating up Puerto Rico

By

One of biggest things I love about Puerto Rican cuisine is that it is a very different collection of ingredients, history, and flavors. The indigenous Taíno Indians, the conquering Spanish, and foreign African slaves have all played a role in what has become known as Comida Criolla. Even though the food of Puerto Rico has its history rooted in Island and Spanish flavors, throughout history it has slowly take on a distinct flavor all its own. Here is a short list of 4 of the most popular and historically classic Puerto Rican dishes.

1. Mofongo

Mofongo is by far the most popular and readily found dish in Puerto Rico. The dish is composed of a tasty and filling blend of diced plantains, island herbs spices and a practically unlimited varieties of fillings; shrimp, pork, steak, seafood and even vegetarian… no matter what kind of flavors you prefer, there is a mofongo for you! Mofongo can also be found anywhere on the island. Practically every Puerto Rican restaurant, from roadside dives to some of Puerto Rico’s most refined local restaurants, will all have their own “secret” recipe.

Chengdu, the Little Chinese Getaway You’ve Never Heard of

By

In the Sichuan Basin, the southern most district of western China, there is a little city named Chengdu. Chengdu has been referred to the most relaxing and laid back cities in all of China. Locals have a leisurely manner and the overall atmosphere of the markets and neighborhoods is just….comfortable, which is rare in pretty much all of China’s other industrialized cities. Chengdu is well known for its Sichuan cuisine. Compared to the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong and other metropolitan cities, along with pretentious and expensive food, the food of Chengdu is just like everything else, homely and comfortable.

One of the most popular Sichuan dishes is Huiguorou. This is a tender pork dish mixed with roasted peanuts and a spicy chili sauce. There are many variations of this dish, and each food purveyor is going to tell you theirs is the best. It’s quite hard to tell because all the food in Chengdu is excellent.

Eating up Miami

By

Miami Florida has some of the freshest ingredients and most modern chefs anywhere in the United States. With an abundance of incredibly fresh seafood and citrus, Miami is the rising star of culinary cities in American fusion cuisine. Although it would take months to talk about all the great restaurants in Miami, here is a short list of some of the best.

ACQUA (Miami Four Seasons Hotel)
The very popular ACQUA restaurant is located right off of the ground floor lobby of the Four Seasons Hotel in Miami. With a very fresh take on Asian ingredients and Latin American preparation, ACQUA is one of the must see restaurants in the area. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and meals typically range from $20- $40 per guest. .

All About Saffron

By

Saffron, or Crocus Sativus by its scientific name, is one of mans earliest and most revered spices. Ancient tradelines were carved into unknown lands for its traffic, and presumptuous adventurers traveled halfway around the world on the mere rumor of this revered spice. References to the Saffron plant go back as far as Creatan cave paintings dating1600 BC.

Greek legends claim that Crocus, a humble Greek farmer, was playing a game of stones with the god Mercury. One of Mercury’s stones missed its mark and struck Crocus on the head, killing him instantly. As Mercury wept for the loss of his mortal friend, his tears blessed the land and the revered saffron crocus plant blossomed every year to commiserate the passing of Crocus.

Breakfast

The Scots love their breakfasts, so you will find plenty of cafes, delicatessens and pubs offering breakfast service from 7am right through to lunchtime and one of if you find yourself in the north of the city in the morning a trip to Porto & Fi is a must. This is a great little café style delicatessen with views over the River Forth, which serves excellent tea, coffee to go with your breakfast or brunch. Some of the most popular dishes include sliced Parma ham and eggs, and a selection of freshly baked pain au chocolat and small pastries served with cups of deep rich coffee. Another great place for breakfast is Urban Angel, which specialises in cooking ethically with fair-trade and organic produce, and a favourite dish in this smart café is the eggs benedict with locally smoked haddock.

Everyone knows that London is famous for its tea and scones and a pint at the pub with some fish and chips. But is that the only cuisine that London has to offer the rest of the world? There’s no way that London could be so popular and so full of culture if that is truly all it had in the way of food. Could it?
