Irelands luscious green hills, the wonderful beers and whiskey and quaint pubs have always been its most beautiful attractions. However, Ireland has a pretty bad rap when it comes to its food. Somehow Ireland’s food has been labeled bland and tasteless. Fortunately for travelers and most especially Irelands locals. This is far from the truth. Traditional Irish fare is as simple and delicious as you can get.

Irish food has also influenced traditional American eating habits more than most people realize. The traditional Sunday roast and mashed potatoes is a staple meal of millions of families across America alone. This is also a traditional Irish meal.

Irish food has made its influences in American kitchens for a variety of reasons, but a major contributor would be the historical Irish potato famine. Because of drastic changes in the watershed of Irish potato farms, it became every hard to produce potatoes between the 1845 and 1852. This caused a massive influx in immigration from Ireland, many if not most, fleeing to America.

Today Ireland, like most European countries have adopted at least some of the convenience foods of the west. McDonalds have popped up everywhere all across Ireland, as well as all the other large chain restraints. Fortunately a large amount of people still feel that traditional Irish food, the delicious meats and vegetables are worth the wait.

Irish stew –usually including Lamb, Beef, Sausage and Pork.
