milan

Milan is the capital of the Lombardy region, and although it is only Italy’s second largest city, it has well earned its reputation for being the richest and most successful metropolis in the country. Milan has a thriving international business economy, and this city has managed to combine the traditions of its history and culture, with modern, sophisticated ambitions, and is a place where art, education, sport and commerce are all embracedin equal measure. The people of Milan also have a great respect for their main religion, and citizens even pay an extra tax especially for the upkeep of the magnificent cathedral.

Milan has a worldwide reputation for being at the cutting edge of fashion, and many of the world’s most important fashion fairs are held in the Fiera district. Milan has also been the heart of Italy’s automobile and financial markets since the 1970’s, and has two of Italy’s most successful professional football clubs, AC Milan and Inter Milan.

The transport services in Milan are excellent, and there is an efficient highway system in place all throughout the city, making this one of the easiest Italy cities to travel around by car. Milan has an efficient intercontinental and domestic railway network and the main station ‘Milano Centrale’ is in the heart of the city and has connections to the rest of Italy and all over Europe. There are two airports, the Malpensa (MXP), which provides international flights, and the smaller Linate (LIN), which provides domestic flights to the rest of the country. MXP is linked to Milan by an express train service, public buses and airport shuttle buses and taxi, which makes it quick and easy to transfer to your destination.
