Although there are dozens of Japanese restaurants in Bangkok, there are very few that pay so close attention to personal service, authentic cuisine and perfection as Genji. Genji Japanese restaurant, located in the Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel is the place to go in Bangkok for Japanese food…hands down.

There are no Japanese restaurants that can compare to Genji in terms of quality and service. Most Japanese places in Thailand practically force feed Japanese culture down your throat with chopsticks. Genji however is an unpretentious place and yet elegant at the same time, presenting an atmosphere that you simply cant find anywhere else in all of Thailand. The main dining hall delivers a more decorative atmosphere than most Japanese eateries. It has sushi bar seating and several teppanyaki grill tables. Additionally, there are several private rooms with traditional knee-high tatami seating dining and sitting areas for a more authentic experience.

Genji features a vast menu including tappas dishes as well as fell entrées and family-style meals. They also have a notable buffet line that is miles above any other buffet you’ll find in Bangkok.  One of the most popular dishes at Genji is their tempura fried soft shell local crab. Although there are several places in Bangkok that you can find this dish, it typically is served soggy, tasteless and the crabs can even be several days old, threatening the health of the eater. At Genji however, as a testament to their fresh outlook, their tempura fried crab is caught and served the very same day.

Lunch at Genji is a pretty big affair. They are one of the only places in Thailand where you can get a traditionally prepared Bento box lunch featuring fresh ingredients and professional technique and preparation. Every day Genji sells about 150 bento box lunches, making them one of the busiest lunch-time destinations in Bangkok.

Although there are dozens of choices in Bangkok when you’re in the mood for good, authentic Japanese food, Genji is by far your best bet. Not only do the meld authenticity of Japanese cuisine with the freshest ingredients in Thailand, but its very light on the wallet as well.
