pre or post Olympic visits to Alberta

Members of Team GB have been training in Calgary for the up and coming games in Vancouver. The superior facilities in the city remain as a legacy following the 1988 Winter Olympics. Great Britain have several hopefuls for the games in Vancouver with promising athletes in Bobsleigh, 500m Short Track Speed Skating, Snowboarding and Figure Skating. Why not stop in Alberta before of after the Olympics to energise or relax and perhaps indulge in some of your own winter sports on the slopes that the athletes use.

Luxury, adventure and the World cup

In November and December Lake Louise will be hosting the Men’s and Ladies Bombardier Downhill World Cup. Why not take in these adrenaline pumping competitions whilst indulging in Fairmont Luxury, superb outdoor activities, skiing at our 3 world class ski hills and relaxing with a spa treatment and Rocky Mountain cuisine. We have trips available from the 26-30 November and from the 3-7 December, so what are you waiting for?

Backcountry lodge and the outdoors

Alberta has many lodges and back-country cabins for winter adventurers to discover. Mount Engadine Lodge is set in the spectacular scenery of Kananaskis Country. The lodge looks out on pristine wilderness and stunning winter trails are accessible directly from the lodge. Alternatively strap on some snowshoes and explore the frozen landscape in peace and tranquillity. The home cooked meals at the lodge are legendary, with a two course breakfast including home made granola and afternoon tea served every day.

Banff national park celebrates its 125th birthday

This winter Banff National Park is 125 years old making this season the perfect time to visit. Canada’s first national park was established in 1885 and is now home to the world-class ski resorts of Lake Louise, Mt. Norquay and Sunshine Village. Our three pristine ski hills means more terrain in one holiday and our perfect powder is great for adrenaline junkies and beginners alike.

Alberta’s longest lift opens at Marmot Basin

Nestled in Jasper National Park, Marmot Basin’s new lift the Canadian Rockies Express! opens at the start of the season. The new lift will completely change the face of Marmot Basin, providing more variety for all and further reducing lift lines. In addition to skiing “must do” activities in the area include the Maligne Canyon Ice Walk, skating on Lake Mildred and dog sledding.

The Rockies is a Winter Wonderland

Known as the home of a million Christmas trees, Alberta’s Rockies is the perfect snowy escape. Indulge in some of our great outdoor experiences including; dog sledding, ice fishing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, skating on frozen lakes and sleigh rides, and then retire to your lodge or hotel for a warming drink beside the open log fire. Why not take a dip in one of our hot mineral pools, work up an appetite with a spa treatment or two and then discover our delicious Rocky Mountain Cuisine.
