I know climbers know the risks they get themselves into but no one ever goes in thinking it'll be them. The poor families. That said, just reading about the technical difficulty of that mountain has my head swimming. That said K2 is an absolutely beautiful mountain and I can totally see the allure. Would love to go trekking near the base at some point - but that'll be about as high as I'd ever go. This was sad to read. Last nite, I watched the news and it seemed an avalanche hit K2 and some climbers went missing...2 got rescued and treated for frostbite in army hospital in Pakistan.
