Buenos Aires querido is the title of a famous tango created by Gardel, the father of this dance. This title also means My dear Buenos Aires, as translated from Spanish. It could also be the state of mind for the most visitors of this fantastic city of Buenos Aires, one of the biggest and most beautiful worldwide.

Buenos aires waterfront is spectacular, as all the city
Visiting Buenos Aires and speaking to portenos, which are very kind, is for many people a lovely experience. They feel like being or coming back home. Many of the visitors start Tango courses, but I am warning you: Tango is a real addiction, and you will wish yourself to come back again and again. But even the people which are not hit by the Tango addiction come back here, and mostly settle here. Most of the Buenos Aires expats come from New York, and they seem to have found their vocation and home. They live very good at high standards, as Buenos Aires is still an affording metropolis, or megacity, as you prefer.

Tango could lead to serioud addiction! It is important to know before starting the lessons
Avoid in Buenos Aires the Recoleta district. The houses and resataurants in this area are overpriced, and you can find anywhere else better restaurants at normal prices ( there are plenty of good restaurants in Buenos Aires, I can suggest 647 Dinner Club). Go in the Recoleta district just to visit the Recoleta cemetery, which is the resting place for the most wealthy people of Argentina. You will be amazed to see many impressive monuments there.

Mozaic tiles in Baracas, genuinely made by Marino Santa Maria
An emerging neighborhood in Buenos Aires is nowaday Barracas. Long time Barracas has been avoided by the guided tours of Buenos Aires as being dangerous and the place for the poverty. Meanwhile the surrounding Puerto Madera and San Telmo saw a real boom in real estate, but today is Barracas time absolutely. Barracas resurection was triggered maybe by the artist Marino Santa Maria, which is working in his birth house from Pasaje Lanin. He decorated with mozaic tiles a few houses in the neighborhood of Barracas, thus attracting many artists nearby. Nowadays is totally chic for the portenos and for the expats living in the area, as is totally in for the tourists visiting it. You can refresh in the area to the Ingrata wine bar or to Caseros restaurant on Avenida Caseros ( try the tasty capeletti stuffed with pumpkin and brie).

La Rural is an important livestock festival, taking part in Buenos Aires in May.
For the art freaks coming in Buenos Aires MALBA with its collections is simply a must do. MALBA simply means Museo de Arte Buenos Aires, and I would advise you to allow it a full day, it is impressive. For the addicted readers of Jorge Luis Borges there is the possibility to discover on their own some traces of Borges in the places he loved: National library, Plaza Serrano where he spent his childhood, and Cafe Tortoni where he has a statue.

For the people visiting Buenos Aires in may there is the big chance to see live La Rural , which is a livestoch festival with contests and prizes. The street roasted beef smells fantastic and is a serious business.
