Step into Puerto Rico, the wonderful Caribbean vacation spot that has become the ultimate mix between the island getaway, and the traditional American holiday. Every year millions of people travel to its shores, looking for a memorable, relaxing vacation, and they are never disappointed. There is nowhere better to find a peaceful, lovely beach experience, and there are plenty of other attractions that will keep you occupied, and entertained, whether you are a young couple looking to spend their honeymoon in romantic bliss, a bustling family wanting to have some fun in the sun, or a student, taking a trip before term begins, and you have to hit the books once again.

When deciding on when Puerto Rico travel is the best option, you should always keep in mind that their mild, tropical climate sees very little change most of the year. The months of December, through May, are the best times to visit, as the hurricane season begins in June, lasting through November. While these months are not usually particularly dangerous, they are wet, and it will usually rain once a day, or more, during those times. This can put an obvious damper on a beach getaway, and so it’s best to stick to those times when the sun is sure to be high, and the weather pleasantly warm.

Next, you will want to figure out where to go. There are a number of cities, and islands, in Puerto Rico, and each one offers something a little different. San Juan is one of the more popular areas, as it is the capital city, and offers many attractions to keep you entertained. Another well loved city is Rincon, a small area popular with surfers, as it produces some excellent waves. Surfing aside, it also filters out the majority of the tourists, and offers a peaceful place to get away, free of the crowds that flock to San Juan.

Luquillo is a great beach spot, as it has the greatest public beach in all of Puerto Rico. It is also partially covered in rain forest, offering some truly stunning scenery. If you are looking for a more adult oriented area, head to Fajardo, a small suburban area that is popular with young singles, couples, and tourists looking for a few nice clubs. They also have some great restaurants in the area, and two lovely beaches, known as the Playas.

One word of advice: if you are planning on some Puerto Rico travel, be prepared to either rent a car for the duration of your trip, or to take a lot of cabs. Walking is not always convenient, and there is no real public transportation in any area but San Juan, which is still limited. You will have to pay for reliable transportation, and if you plan on moving on from one city to another, especially to one of the water-locked areas, you will probably need to rely on local ferries, and trains, to get you around. Be sure to check out their público system, which are shared taxi’s that will cost you a fraction of the price of a private cab.
