Spain has long since been considered one of the most fabulous, exciting, romantic countries in Europe. Every year it draws crowds in the millions, each to experience the many attractions in Spain that makes it such an incredible place to visit. All offer a unique view of their particular city, and give an experience that is linked to both the traditional, and the modern, aspects of a land long since considered one of the best in tourism.

Whatever it is that brings the many tourists to this boot-shaped country every year, it can’t be denied that anyone can find something that sparks there interest, and many the attractions in Spain will provide nonstop entertainment from the second you set foot there. Here are a few of my own personal favorites, each one giving (in my opinion) the perfect taste of Spain, creating a picture that brings me back again and again.

Of all of the modern building work done over the years, one of the greatest futuristic attractions in Spain is the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, in Valencia. An entire cityscape, made up of a number of white buildings, was created by Santiago Calatrava, and no trip to Spain in complete without taking a look at all it has to offer. There is a science museum, an aquarium, a planetarium, and an art center, all located within this incredible complex. Beyond that, the cone shaped, oddly constructed structures spread out throughout the main area is breathtaking.

If you are looking for a great place to take the kids, the Parc de la Ciutadella, a large complex in Barcelona, has a fantastic zoo, which holds more then 7,000 animals within its walls. From monkeys, to elephants, to dolphins, they have everything you can imagine. The various animal shows will capture your child’s imagination, and you may find yourself just as captivated, as you watch them perform tricks, or just spend time roaming out their habitat.

When you find yourself in Seville, you have to check out the legendary Plaza de Espana. Built in 1929 by Anibal Gonzalaz, this wonder center for local life has long since been regarded as the most beautiful places in Spain, with an amazing mixture of 1920’s American, and Gothic European, design. The historical scenes depicting crucial moments in Spain’s history is especially impressive.

If you feel like a stroll, or perhaps a shopping trip, or a coffee, the Plaza Mayor in Madrid is a lovely option. Part marketplace, part city square, the many sights to see as you watch locals going about their business, or the lovely architectural delights that liter the streets, make this a wonderful spot to just relax, or to get in a bit of the shopping Spain is famous for. It also has an extensive history, having been a central point for Spanish society for centuries, giving it an almost surreal, romantic quality that you won’t want to miss experiencing.
