Sydney is a modern, multicultural city, with an energetic, vibrant atmosphere and some of the best ’surf, sand and sun’ in Australia. The golden sands of Bondi beach are just a short drive from the fabulous restaurants and shops of the city center, and the harbor is without a doubt one of the most beautiful in the world, with the distinct white peaks of the Sydney Opera House and the stunning Harbor Bridge crowning the sea and cityscapes. Although Sydney is not the administrative capital of Australia it is certainly its cultural and business heart, and the semi tropical summers and mild short winters means that Sydney epitomizes the true heart of the Australian active, outdoors life, from eating and socializing out with friends, to swimming, walking and surfing out on the beautiful beaches.

As well as all of the stunning natural and architectural sights, Sydney also has many other places of interest such as excellent museums, galleries and concert venues, and the festival season is long and busy, and there are many world ranking sporting events also held here throughout the year. Here are is a quick list of a few of the top things to do in Sydney:
* Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade – if you are up for a bit of excitement, fun and sheer over-the-top glamour then it is worth getting in on one of the biggest, loudest and brashest parties around, the annual world famous Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade in Darlinghurst. The streets here are lined with cafes, bars and restaurants, and the atmosphere is electric, with the district really coming alive to celebrate the diversity and equality of Australian society.

This neighborhood has some of the oldest cottages and pubs in the city, and is now a busy tourist area full of museums, galleries, cafes, bars and souvenir shops. Key places to visit are the Sydney Observatory, the Susannah Museum and the fascinating Museum of Contemporary Art.
* Bondi Beach – this is one of the most famous and most beautiful beaches in the world, Bondi has over a kilometre of unspoilt, golden sand, just a short drive from the center of Sydney. It does get very busy in the summer, and there is an excellent promenade with good bars, cafes and restaurants. The Sunday Market is held on the promenade too, and is very popular with a number of items on sale from beachwear to jewelery. There is also an excellent coastal walk from the south end of the beach, which follows the coast right through to Coogee.
