Today is the orthodox Easter. It celebrates the resurrection of God, a miracle that gives us all hope for our life. If Jesus could make this sacrifice for our mistakes, we are all saved! Wish you all Happy Easter!

The celebration of Easter is very deep to the orthodox, and is not so commercial as Christmas. I was invited during my visit in Romania to take part to the Easter mess and to the ritual Easter meal, and I can tell you a lot about all these things.

First of all, any orthodox should prepare himself holding a cure without animal products 40 days long. They also must strive to do only good things, become better and confess to the priest their sinns.

An orthodox church is not very much different from a catholic one. During the mess the orthodox do not sit, they usually stand.

On the mess from Saturday night (the resurection mess) the people take light from the priest and they salute for 40 days with the words ” Jesus is resurrected” and answer to that with “He is really resurrected“.

On Sunday, the first Easter Day they take part within families, or somewhere in nature, to the ritual Easter meal. From this meal may not lack painted eggs, lamb and red wine.A romanian picknick

I met in Romania an expat which is conquered of the orthodox religion, and converted himself to it. Orthodox religion really seems him to be the right religion: very deep, very tolerant and very strong.A very interesting person

He likes not only the rich celebrations, but he understood very deep the meaning of the orthodox religion. We celebrated Easter together in the Romanian Carpathian Mountains, at Lepsa-Gresu pass, not far from Ojdula, in an isolated location.
