You need no special motivation to be in New York. This city is a must for any traveler of these days, as for any man living on this planet. It is similar with the ancient Rome, a sort of capital of the world !
New York is no longer the biggest city of the world, has neither the world’s highest building, but it still atracts magnetically every people of this Earth. It is a megacity indeed, and it was the first one megacity of the planet. Maybe we could name it the alfamegacity!
It plays a major world in world’d industry, economy, finance, culture, fashion, sports, tourism and travels.
Since 1790 New york has been America’s greatest city, a symbol of it, as the most immigrants came to America via New York. Since 150 years it is( corect me if I am wrong) world’s most important city.
By 1524 there was no trace of New York, Manhattan,Bronx,Staten Island! Only 5000 LeNape indians lived here!
After that the dutch camed and named it New Amsterdam, by 1700 it gained the name of New York. After Independence Day it was shortly even the capital of United States.
Further : strong immigration waves(puertoricans, italians, irish, eastern europeans), strong growth of finance and industry; new waves of immigration after 1995(mainly Latinos and Chinese).
If you are a New Yorker, you can live in many ways, earning between 100 $ and 100 000 $ monthly, working in industry(strong decay), IT and software ; environment, finance, luxury hotels, hostels etc etc. An important thing: the new yorker are very environmental aware and friendly. They use the half of energy consumption of San Francisco, and the quarter of energy consumption of Dallas!
The maire Bloomberg strives to do Manhattan car free. This evolution is easy to explain: during the industrial revolution there was a strong pollution in New York, which produced many lungs diseases.
I can tell you so many stories about New York. You must visit it first, I will tell you more about it very soon. Visit Ground Zero with 10 $, visit The metropolitan Art Museum, watch the matches of new York Yankees, and keep in touch.
