Santa teresa vacations, Santa Teresa holidays

In the Hispanic world Santa Teresa is an important saint and celebration. Consequently Santa Teresa is a wide spread town name : there are Santa Teresa in U.S., Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Only the last one, Santa Teresa from Costa Rica waked my interest and I visited it since short time.

Santa Teresa is a fast growing city sitting in the jungle. The road conditions are poor, the touristic infrastructure is also not very developed, as the city has been for many years a humble fishing village in Costa Rica. Despite all of these things, the town and the area tourism is booming. Some prominents have discovered this wonderful quiet place ( e.g. Giselle Bundchen owes a property in the area, and she celebrated her wedding there. It was a violent wedding, with shotguns.)

As more hotels are going to be build, the jungle falled as a collateral victim, and there are serious concerns about environmental issues in Santa Teresa.

Why should a traveler choice Santa Teresa for his /her vacations ? The pubs and bars in the area offer an interesting nightlife, but the best attraction for me is the beach. The Santa Teresa beach is ideal for surfing, and the waters are permanently warm, as the city lies at 9 degrees latitude! You can also sail, dive and snorkel here, or even go fishing. Or maybe you want to explore the jungle, it is another strong point for Santa Teresa. Santa Teresa can also be used as a base for visiting the neighboring cities of Cobano, Montezuma and Mal Pais, the roads are satisfactory. You can go even further to San Jose, the country’s capital, which is a chic colonial city ( there are direct buses). Another posibility is to have in Santa Teresa a romantic getaway or even a honeymoon, no one will disturb you there!
