Number seven is magic.The seven wonders of the ancient world as classified and described by Herodot perished due eartquake, wars, erosion etc, with one exception: the great pyramid from Gizeh. Which is really impressive even today.

Nowadays there are much more wonders, but I want to make a simplified choice and propose to you seven wonders of the modern world. They are all, with an exception, old buildings stimulating our imagination even today. They are impressive and full of misteries. Try to see them and tell me your personal rankings.

1. Taj Mahal in India is a love temple of an extraordinary beauty, build by a Middle Age maharajah ruler in the memory of his beloved wife died very young. There are many legends and traditions about Taj Mahal. If you were in love once, and if you like the beauty of the art, you must see Taj Mahal. It is also recommended as a destination for honeymoon.

2. The maya city of Tikal in Guatemala, Center America. A flourishing civilization, maya, disapeared over night. Why and how? If we could answer that question , we could protect and preserve better our today planet and civilization.

3. Machu Picchu in Peru, a former capital of the Inca Empire. It is dificult to reach, fast swallowed by the jungle. But is also impressive through dimensions and organization. Machu Picchu decayed after the spanish colonial occupation of Peru and South America.

4. Maui, the huge stone statues of the Easter Island. They are huge, amazing and aparently useless. And they emerged in one of the world’s most remoted and isolated destinations. Unbelievable.

5.The Chinese Wall is the only one building visible from the moon, so huge is it. You can walk on it, trying to imagine what severe organization were needed to build something on these dimensions, and how many people died for that, and how long lasted the building process.

6.The Eiffel Tower of Paris, France, was at its inauguration in 1896 very controversial among parisians. Many locals saw it as the ugliest building of Paris, asking for demolition. But the visitors loved it, and today the Eiffel Tower is a landmark of Paris, and is still its tallest building.

7. The Cathedral of Chartres, France( La Cathedrale Notre Dame de Chartres) isĀ  an unbelievable breathtaking beauty. In the Middle Age was the centre of the all activities in the comunity. It served as hospital, place to find jobs, market etc. It is very representative for the Gothic architecture.
