American cuisine is a veritable melting pot of flavors and influences. Whether it’s an authentic hotdog on the streets of Chicago or 5 star fine dining in Napa Valley American cuisine has a lot to offer the hungry traveler.
American food is a very broad term that involves blends of food from all around the world. With cuisines from French and Italian to Mexican to Asian combining with traditional European dishes, American cuisine offers a bigger variety of foods than any other nation in the world.
America is full of “culinary hot-spots” or areas where food and entertainment has more of a community presence. Masters of these culinary arts and their experienced opinions have encouraged the rapid expansion of successful restraunteurs, shows and competitions. Places like Miami, Chicago, New York City and Napa Valley are internationally known as culinary destinations that blend local flare with indigenous ingredients to make some serious culinary magic.
In California, the typical local food is a mix of very fresh ingredients and local citrus bringing together a large number of cooking styles and dishes. California, especially the Napa Valley region, is considered the birthplace of “New American” cuisine. This type of food is simply about using clean flavors and preparations that don’t muddy or complicate the flavors of the dish. Californian New American cuisine places heavy reverence on locally sustainable ingredients. This is great new s for small organic farmers as the New American cuisine movement in California has resurrected previously corporate-dominated food markets and has allowed small farmers to strive.
The typical cuisine you’ll see in Florida places huge importance on seafood. Florida has bigger percentage of coastline than any other American city. Fresh seafood is so abundant that prices for lobster and other high-end seafood dishes are actually much less in Miami than in a lot of other US culinary destinations. Along with a large variety of locally grown produce Florida is also only a short drive away from a wide variety of classic southern ingredients. This blend of southern and beachfront cuisine makes the food of Miami really unique.
