A recent report has revealed that tourism in Mexico fell by around 16% which has threw the tourism-dependent country of Mexico into uncertainty as to how it will make up the economic shortfall as tourism is the country’s third largest source of income.
According to the same news report, the reasoning behind the reduction in tourists was down to a number of factors ranging from the economic crisis to increased crime and swine flu fears as affecting the Mexican tourist industry and possibly crippling the Mexican economy.
As swine flu apparently originated in Mexico, people are undoubtedly thinking that it’s a dangerous place to go, but the reality is far from the opposite as the virus has all but burned itself out in this sunny paradise of tequila and unforgettable food. At this moment in time, tourists are more likely to suffer from indigestion or hangovers than H1N1.
Likewise the crime issue is something that has always affected Mexico, but like many places in the world, tourists are rarely exposed to crime if they stay away from unsavory areas.

To help boost things into action the government of Mexico City is offering a variety of incentives to try and boost tourism. Firstly they are offering free return trips if anyone can prove they were infected with H1N1 during their vacation, free insurance for anyone who stays in a hotel located within Mexico City, and also a number of deals and incentives to entice people back to places such as the Mexican Riviera.

Mexico is one of the best places in the world for everything from golf to scuba diving and even trekking. With such world famous places such as Cozumel, Cancun and Acapulco located in this fine country, you can have the holiday of a lifetime exploring this once popular and very unique destination which at its height receives well over 20 million tourists a year.
Visiting Mexico is a great opportunity to see a colorful and diverse culture. Mexican people are high-spirited warm-hearted and very welcoming. With so much to explore in the country of Mexico, there is no reason not to take advantage of these fantastic offers.
