By the end of the XIXth century Paul Gauguin was a very successful painter living in Paris, the capital of artistic world. Many people could think and say, he was at the peak of its glory. But Gauguin leaves Paris and takes a long journey to the Tahiti islands. He was looking for peace and quiet, and these matters are not to find in Paris.

Tahiti island, or the Heaven on Earth
Today for many people aiming to find the Heaven on Earth, Tahiti remains the best option. The Tahiti islands are by far the most beautiful of the Pacific islands, as they enjoy a wonderful tropical weather and have wonderful beaches. The local beauties are charming, and I’d better stop. It is really too nice to be true!

On Raiatea Island you can get the biggest river in Frenc Polynesia, and you can take part to a river boat journey
Most of the buildings on Tahiti islands are only a few inches above sea level. When the hurricane comes, the chances to escape are slim. Thank God, the storms are not so often here! But another major threat for Tahiti islands is the global warming. With a raise of sea level with 2 feet, it would lead to the end of Tahiti islands.

But we can still enjoy the paradise on Earth in Tahiti islands. Maybe not exactly like Gauguin did, as the city of Papeete ( the capital of French Polynesia ) is no more a sleepy harbor, but a vibrant touristic target with many restaurants. Nevertheless, not far from Papeete and easy reachable by boat there are a lot of completely deserted islands. There are no other people which could disturb you, neither hotels, nothing. You can play the Robinson Crusoe on these magnificent islands, sleeping on the silver sand of those excellent beaches and fishing or hunting. It is absolutely fantastic if we can still find such places on Earth.

Heaven on Earth is so close. This the Touamotou Atol.
If you are not in the mood for loneliness, stay on Tahiti or Bora Bora. It is the perfect destination for couple, honeymooners and you even have the opportunity to organize your Tahiti wedding! Your bride will wait for you in a royal chair, and you are going to ask her coming in a canoe. It is wonderful, even for people who are married since many years! A local priest will bless you and give you some local names.
Tahiti is one of the best places worldwide for diving and snorkeling. It is simply amazing to watch all the tiny creatures living in these blue clear water. In some places there could be a lot of sharks, but they are harmless to humans.
So, dear friends, stop making philosophical speculations about heaven. Simply visit Tahiti and you are there. But be aware, paradise is not a cheap thing. You can get all the luxury you want, but you must pay for it.
