Known to many as the ‘City of Kings‘, Lima, Peru is one of the most beautiful modern cities today. With an eclectic mixture of Spanish colonial architecture, ancient Peruvian ruins, and ultra-chic modern buildings and attractions, Lima has developed a certain reputation over the years as a quickly developing hot spot for tourism.

Yet, despite this reputation, it may surprise you to know that many are still unaware of this travelers treasure, as many guides and vacations gurus have failed to include it among the ranks of their recommended trip lists. This is unfortunate, as Lima vacation can be an unforgettable experience of modern fun, as well as an educational trip filled with culture, history, and a little mystery that seems to surround the country of Peru.
Those who have been lucky enough to find themselves on a Lima vacation, or who have lived there themselves, will likely mention a handful of must see attractions, favorite sights, great entertainment venues, and restaurants that you just have to try. I am no different, and so here are a few places that you should be sure to check out if you end up, like so many have, on a Lima vacation.
Déjà Vu – This two level Bohemian club is famous for it’s International flair, easygoing surroundings, and live performances by local Peruvian favorites. You can go to either the first or second floor for either, and rub shoulders with the young, hip locals of Lima.
Señor Frogs – One of the only electric clubs in Lima, this trendy location is always packed with young electronica lovers ready to get out on the dance floor. There is plenty of pulsing music, overflowing drinks, and young, dancing bodies to offer a fantastic night out.
El Cinematógrafo – A place for those among us who love the alternative arts scene, this cinema features movies of a different style, from all over the world. From gritty, black and white noirs, to surreal performance pieces, this is the place to go if you like to think a little more deeply about your entertainment.
Daytona Amusement Park – While lacking many of the rides and attractions of the usual well known amusement parks, this is still a great spot to spend your days racing go-karts, playing laser tag, or fighting your friends in epic paint ball matches.
Café Café – A great little (you guessed it) café that features a huge menu of sandwiches, coffees, and other beverages, with a casual, trendy flair.
El Cordano – Half restaurant, half bar, this great little spot has been around for decades, and offers several classic Peruvian dishes that give you a taste of the local culture. They also have a wide range of alcoholic beverages, with a ton of beers on tap.
Pachacamac –

No Lima vacation is complete without visiting this historic archaeological location. Once one of the most spiritually relevant areas for the indigenous people of the Andes, this collection of temples and ruins will make you feel connected with the past in a way nowhere else in the world will. Realizing the significance of such a place is awe-inspiring.
