Gandhi’s Home and India

Mahatma Gandhi was instrumental in striving for Indian independence and even today he remains a worldwide symbol of peace. His name is something we all recognize, but few people know who he really was.

Recently, Gandhi’s home was sold in Johannesburg and after a French company managed to purchase the famous property, it was widely criticized.

The good news is, it looks like they will convert this rather historical building into a famous museum in the name of Mahatma Gandhi. It was here after all, in Johannesburg, South Africa where he spent a great deal of time pondering and formulating his philosophies on life.

Gandhi was unfortunately assassinated in 1948, but his spirit does live in in the hearts and souls of many Indians where his birthday is a national holiday.

Today, Gandhi is revered as the father of India, because he is revered by all Indians as the father of India. Visiting India, its clear to see the influence that he had on the country as his name is everywhere. It’s also reassuring to feel that such a peaceful man could inspire a nation like India to greatness.

India is one of the most populous countries in the world and it’s also one of the most historic. It was here after all a few of the world’s oldest religions came into being. With so many cities it’s hard to know where to visit, but India continues to be a popular place to travel due to the historic culture, landscapes and scenery on offer.

In the past many people have avoided parts of India, Goa has always remained a popular destination, but there is so much more to see in this simply magical country.

Palaces, Monuments, Forts, Shrines, Caves and Temples are examples of just a few of the many historic attractions that a trip to India has. But it’s not just history you should go to look at, because the Indian people have spirit, passion and determination.

Indeed, once you get past the initial fear of street beggars and the rather unfair twin-pricing system that can operate, Indian people are kind hearted, fair and proud. Whether it’s Goa or even the Himalayas that has your interest, a trip to India can leave you with a lifetime of memories.
