The map of Torres del paine national park
Torres del Paine lies in the southernmost part of Chile, the remote Patagonia. When Magellan succeed to sail through Cape Horn and reported about Patagonia, he took as his biggest achievements. This magic is still today widespread within many people, as Patagonia is such a remote destination.
But today hiking in Torres del Paine is not anymore so impossible and inaccessible. More than 100 000 people hike every year in Torres del Paine, causing already environmental problems, and the Chilean government plans to apply restrictions. May be you should hurry up to visit Torres del Paine !

Astonishing view from Lake Pehoe
Torres del Paine from Spanish means the Blue Towers. These towers, which give the name of the entire park, are rocky peaks, which have been formed within thousands of years by wind and glaciers. The peaks from Torres del Paine are the southernmost representatives of the Andes and reach between 2000 and 3000 meters. The weather is cold and rainy, and you can be sure to get some astonishing glaciers within the Torres del Paine national park. The peak season is from December to April, during the summer.

A hostel on the Lake Pehoe
For getting Torres del Paine you must get first Punta Arenas by air or by see. From Punta Arenas you should take a bus up to Puerto Natales, which is actually the gate to Torres del Paine. From Puerto Natales there are more possibilities for your trip within the Torres del Paine. First of all is for trained skillful hikers and is the classical W trail, which you can absolve in a few days. There are Refugios ( charges and reservation necessary) where you can stay on a budget in acceptable conditions, or you can camp where you want in the reservation. A small relief would be not to carry all your luggage on the trail, but for that you need a precisely reservation. For people which not in the mood or in the shape to attack the trail, there is the possibility to stay in the best conditions in the Hotel Explora, in the middle of Torres del Paine national park. It lies on the picturesque Lake Pehoe, and one week stay with guided tours costs 5000 $, worthing every penny!

Can you please advise if there is anywhere within the park where we could leave our luggage, we will be a group of 6 coming to do the W walk and then leaving to travel to other parts of South Am, but we will only be needing our hiking gear in TCP. If there is somewhere within the part can you please also advise the cost of this.
Thanks Ruth
