There are some hotels in Vancouver, be sure about it. You do not need to be a homeless in this nice city.
In the downtown you will find Plaza500,Renaissance, Holiday Inn. They are not cheap, but they are good!Hard to say which is the best. Maybe a special mention to Renaissance, the people are very friendly.
But you have also other choices: hostels, not so luxury hotels in other neighborhood etc.
Do not mention foods, you can find so many traditional foods from many nations: there is a Chinatown,Koreatown,Greektown and so on, and all of them with plenty of food. There are also fast foods, but go there only if you are in a hurry.
