Italy is a great vacation destination. So many cities, so little time. But if you could go to just one city in Italy, which one would it be? Would it be Rome so you could see the Sistene Chapel and the Vatican? Would it be the vineyards of Tuscany? Or maybe the canals in Venice?
There is no way you could travel to Italy and get to see it all. So the best thing to do is see one city at a time. This is the best way to see Italy because, if you think about it, you really get to know the city. You’re not rushing from city to city trying to see the most popular and most traveled attractions. No, by taking your time, you get to see so many things and fall in love with Italy a city at a time.
So if you’re going to go to Italy for more than one vacation, how do you decide where to go first? Milan. That’s right, a Milan vacation should be your first choice. Why? Because all of the other cities have so many more tourists. If you really want to start Italy off right, you should start with a city less popular and thus, less touristy.
So you’re going to Milan. What will you see? What will you do? Do you know anything about it? If not, it’s time you learn what all there is to do in Milan and see why it truly should be the first place you go on your Italy list.
Shopping. Oh, yes, shopping. If you love to shop, then Milan is definitely the place for you. A Milan vacation is not complete without checking out some of this fashion city’s wares. Okay. You’ve done your shopping at all the top designer stores and then some. Then what? Well, a Milan vacation should be full of theaters and museums. So what kind of great theater and museum experiences can you have in Milan?
There are absolutely too many theaters in Milan to mention, and you should note that most performances are in Italian. One theater that is a definite must-do is the Teatro Alla Scala. There is a world of history in this 18th century opera theater that makes it impossible to ignore. And wander the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza museum and stadium is a great way to spend an afternoon.
After spending the day enjoying some shopping, theater or sights, don’t forget to enjoy some gelato. Italy is very well known for its frozen version of ice cream. In fact, it’s by far better.
There are so many other things to see and do. You can join a sightseeing tour, which the city has a great hop-on/hop-off tour bus service, you can ride a tram and you can climb on the roof of a cathedral. This city offers a welcoming taste of Italy and offer a relaxing vacation full of fun and interesting things to do.
