When you go to the United Kingdom for a vacation, you don’t have to go to London. There are many other amazing places to go, including Nottingham. Many of you may relate Nottingham to Robin HoodS and the evil Sherif of Nottingham. But that should not deter you from taking a Nottingham vacation. In fact, it might be one of the reasons you’d like to go.

Of course, there are other reasons to take a Nottingham vacation. Not everyone is a Robin Hood fan. But beware, fan or not, there is a Robin Hood amusement park that, if you take the kids, will be a great big hit.

So why would you want to take a Nottingham vacation when you could go to London? Well, you could visit the Nottingham Castle. Didn’t know there really was one? Then aren’t you in for a treat. Some other must-sees might include Wollaton Hall & Park and the City Caves. Wollaton Hall & Park offers an inexpensive day of fun family activity. There are parks and gardens and even a museum. Before you know it, you’ve spent a day wandering around a beautiful place. Then, of course, there are the City Caves. What the heck are city caves? Well, if you’re looking for a little mystery and adventure, the City Caves are where you’ll find it. The City Caves lead to the tunnel system that exists under the city of Nottingham. When you enter, you will be taken back in time to see how the caves and tunnels have been used throughout the centuries. Nefarious reasons? Perhaps. Romantic trysts? Maybe. What about fleeing royalty? You’ll have to visit them and find out for yourself.

If you’d like to see one of England’s famous abbeys, Newstead Abbey is right there in Nottingham. Or maybe take in a little theater? Nottingham has a great array of theatrical pursuits for any taste.

Speaking of taste, Nottingham has some great places to kick up your feet or take a load off and enjoy a pint of ale. Like Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, which is one of the oldest bars in England. Gothic more your style? Try the Pit and Pendlum. Or if you’d like a little rockin’ beat while you drink away your exhaustion, you might find yourself at The Cookie Club.

But if you’d like a nice dinner before you go to bed, Red Hot is an all you can eat restaurant that offers great service and a wonderful atmosphere. But if all you want is a coffee and a piece of delectable chocolate, then Nottingham Chocolate Utopia is the place to be.

Nottingham has a lot to offer as an option for visiting the United Kingdom. While it may not be as posh as visiting London, it does offer a great experience for less the cost…and some really fun things to do. Still not convinced? Check out Nottingham for yourself.
